Hi, I’m Megan, the artist behind Mellow Slab.

Born and raised in Alaska, I’ve always been deeply inspired by the raw elements that surrounded me. The color of every season and how it varies; mountains, ocean, slabs of stones, glaciers, wildlife, Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis), and the quiet stillness of untouched nature. These landscapes have shaped not only my view of the world, but the way I create. Every piece I make draws from that deep, sensory connection to color, texture, and atmosphere.

While I’ve explored many forms of art over the years, abstract painting has always been where I find the most peace; where everything quiets down. There’s something about the unpredictability of fluid movement and the way color speaks without needing definition that continues to pull me in. Every piece is made slowly and intuitively. Some days, it’s soft and quiet. Other days, it’s bold and unpredictable.

I think abstract art is like music without lyrics, it doesn’t tell you exactly what to feel… but it sets up the space for you to feel something. You don’t have to “get it” to be moved by it.

I created Mellow Slab out of a desire to share that kind of emotional openness. I hope my work feels like a place you can breathe; something that gives you a pause, or stirs something quietly inside.
